Liten follow up p forrige uke. S de to leke sloss og tuller 24/7. Kjempe gy

Jaja, velsignelser i himmelen.

Masse gode planer for neste uke! Stay put ;) s snakkes me neste uga folkens.

yesyes. What?s up doc?
We just came from bowling today. We met with the others elders from the district. I have not bowled since we had some time out at Hetland highschool. Thought I would be killed by the others, but I took the victory with a 133pins. Always cool to win J.

Just a follow up after last week. We visited the investigator with that took care of the kitten -Rose. She is doing well and has already become larger and enjoying her selves together with Tommy, another little kitten. They play around, fight and have a blast 24/7.

This week has flown by! We visit one of the members -Caprini who gave me the tie. He lives far away from everyone. His house is rather a cabin. You can say it is the cabin in the mountains. Was fun to be there. He has a special personality. He is not a boring type. Very bubbly.
We contacted two guys on the street which was absolutely 100% prepared to hear the gospel. When they realized we were missionaries they were very eager, and wanted to know where our church in Papos were located. We explained were they could find it, and gave them our phone number. They called us on Sunday morning an hour before the meetings started. We explained again that it does not start until an hour. They said oh well, just wanted to checks so that we will not be late. They were at church for all meetings and loved it.
Only a little sad is that they live in the other elders "area" so they get to teach them. Well, well blessings in heaven. :-)

I had a 15min talk on Sunday that did go very well. We are not the biggest branch in the world, so you have to rotate often on who will give the talks.

With regards to food making, I?m getting the hang of it more and more every week. I feel I have to be a better cook so that don?t eat pasta every day, as missionaries often does.

Lots of good plans for next week! So stay put. :-) See you next week folks.

I mellomtiden sovnet pusen i armene mine.

Sommeren er her.

    -------------------------------------------------------

Hi to all of you folks.

Like my mom said. I've been away a whole pregnancy now! 9 months out on my mission.

This week was a long week. The whole seven days. But that's is how we like it. I rescued a pussycat, president Kearen was here and we have had lots of experiences.

All right , I?ll begin with President Kearen, the area president for Europe. He was visiting here in Cyprus and had some meetings with us. It was so amazing. He was with us the whole day, and really had the spirit with him. I actually feel the same indescribable feelings just by thinking about it. Several places in the Book of Mormon we can read about that people is falling to the ground because they were overwhelmed by the spirit. It can not be far from that we fell to the ground. It was absolutely amazing.

We walked along a street one evening and suddenly a tiny little pussycat jumped infront of us. He can not have been more then a few weeks old. Staggering along the street, coordination?s was not there yet. The eyes were wide open and he was not afraid at all. I felt sorry for the little thing, so I picked it up and we knocked on some doors near by, but no one knew where it came from. And frankly people did not care to much? But I could not just leave him, since he would must likely not survived since it was a really busy street. (It had not been the first or second time we had seen a runned over kitten)

We bought some cat food, and you should have seen how happy and eager he became! We called around to see what we could do. One of the investigators to the other couple, that I taught when I was the first time in Paphos, helps with some kittens. She said she could take care of him. We waited with some investigators who lived near to the missionary couple that would pick us up. Meanwhile the kitty fell asleep in my arms. It was so small that it fitted in my hand almost.

We had to give up on some of our investigators this week, because they really did not want tofind out if the message we give them really are true. If you do not even ask Our Heavenly Father if it is true if we have a living prophet today or if Book of Mormon is true, then you will never get an answer! Ahh, it's so easy that it's almost annoying. It's just that I know it's true. I have tried to ask if it true. Therefore I challenge others to just try the same. Read a Litle, and ask directly in prayer.

Summer is here. Cypriots say it has barely begun. But it's 40 degrees and there is a fireball up in the sky that will not away. The humidity is so thick, that when the sun goes down, the cars drive with windshield wipers on. This is the weather we go "race walking" in every day. Another sign of summer is the watermelons. Ahh, they are so incredibly good. And they are literally cheaper than water. Actually they are much cheaper then water. 27cent for a kilo of watermelon. They really taste good in this weather. I should not complain about the weather, I actually can never get enough sun. But I do not think I'm going to complain about the Norwegian weather the first few weeks I'm home;)

    Have a brilliant week !

    Haloisen

S flte at uken startet ganske drlig.

Pappa fullfrte nettopp nordsjrittet p 92km! Respekt!

Der to misjonrer gr banker p drene.

Elder, I am here. I know who you are. I sent you to those neighborhoods, the very ones where you experienced nothing but rejection. I prompted your changes in direction to even more difficult neighborhoods. I know where each of the elect in your area resides. I know their names. I could send you to those addresses only, and save you the time and sacrifice looking for them. BUT ELDER, WHAT GOOD WOULD THAT SERVE YOU? The mission experience is to do what you are told, when you are told, to go where you are asked, and know that the blessing comes from enduring what I ask of you. This is not about you; it is about opening your mouth at all times in all places. Doing my will without thought to the end result or consequence? this is what serving a mission is.

Har i iallfall gitt meg noen perspektiver

Ha ein knallanes goe uga folkens! ;)

I had to add the below photo. I just found out that i have wide angle on my new camera. For the first time I truly look like an Elder Steffensen :-) (so this is how it feels like Uncle yvind....)

    ---------------

    Haya all

Last week was a bit of a bad week with lots of plans that went down the drain. Investigators who did not want to have contact longer, some did not appear in the church as agreed and also other sort of bad things. So I must say I felt that that week started pretty bad. However? There is always a However on your mission J. The positive is that it became better further in the week. Now we have appointment the rest of this week. Nearly the whole week is completed booked with planned appointments. From 6:30 in the morning until 10:30 at night, so it's very good. One of the days our Europe president Kearon is visiting Cyprus, so we will have a conference with him for a whole day. That will be a treat!

We had and a very small lesson that lasted only 15 minutes with one of our investigators. She has several jobs and have absolutely no free time. Yet she took the time to meet with us even if it was only for 15 minutes. It was a very good discussion. This only shows that it is not the length of the lesson that matters.

Talking about the length... My dad completed the North Sea bicycle race  this Saturday and the length is 92km!

Sounds extreme.., but is it really more than an average day of walking here in Paphos? Perhaps not? or perhaps? J. we walk extremely much here. I hear that if they do not close this area next six weeks, we will get bikes.

But seriously I'm incredibly proud of my dad who did finish the race just above 3.5 hours. Respect!

Oh, something I forgot to mention a while ago. We were visiting some of our investigators, they wanted to show us something. They had found a youtube video of a parody on Hello Adele. Where two missionaries knocking on doors. Investigators could not stop laughing. They recognized lots of things from the video. Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, 3 hours church and more. Hahah. It was funny. Here is a link if you like to see it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckLqfX62u_I

Just had to mention that I have a new? Grand-cousin! Eliam! Congratulations to Mina and Christopher!

I am enormously grateful for the opportunity I have to serve here in Greece Athens Mission. It has its ups and downs. But this is how we learn and grow. I want to share a part of The Ricciardi Letter which my cousin Linn Steffensen who serves as a missionary in Utah, Temple Square Mission wrote to me. There is kind of a long letter, which really gave me a lot. Here is only a small paragraph:

    It gave me some perspectives?

Wish you all a super duper week.

Javell folkens. Nye uga. Nytt rauaraddel ;)

Hun gjenkjente meg da vi mtte henne og s sa til meg oh, you speak greek now? ah, very good, very good. hahha.

Fysjom..

nske dkkr alle ein skamfine uga ^^ s snakkes me neste uga.

    ----------------

Hi you folks. New week. New chatter;)

The language gets better and better. People are often impressed when they find out how little we have been here when it comes to the Greek language. This week me and Rantaniemi spoke with a guy, and after a while he asked me: 'Are your parents from Cyprus or Greece? "I did not fully understand the question, for I don?t look like a Greek, do I? So I answered ?no.? Then he said, "Well you speak very clean like a Greek, so I thought maybe your father was a Greek."

I choose to take it as a sign of progression. Good since I really work as hard as I can to learn the language.

One of the members did not like the tie a wore last week in the church. So this Sunday he came up to me and gave me a bag with 5 new ties. Hahhaha! He is a guy that is one hundred percent honest with everything.

We met Tatiana this week on the street. For you that do not remember, she was the who had plenty of trouble the first time I was here in Paphos. She is no longer with her boyfriend, who was the root of most of her problems. She just moved and since she is alone with her little daughter, she needed help in the garden. She did recognize me when we met her and then said to me "Oh, you speak greek now? ah, very good, very good. " hahha. Last time we met me Greek was probably not very much impressive. So we helped her in the garden. Put up a fence, moved a rose bush etc. The hope is that we can help her both physically and spiritually, and that she will progress in her life.

We had an exchange this week. So I got to be in Limassol for a day. I was there on Sunday too, since we had a European mission meeting. So I got to contact people the whole day I was there that I had contact with before I moved. Several of them lost in touch with the new missionaries. So it was good to start up again. One of the members told me when the little Mariana that is the daughter to one of the investigators saw some missionaries for the first time in a while, so she shouted out "Ah, Lundegrd! Lundegrd " That was the kind of cool to hear. Especially when you consider that she does not speak properly yet, since she is only three years old and they speak 3 different  languages at home. Lundegrd is not the easiest name to say either.

There was an injured butterfly that landed on me, that it did not want to get of me even if I try to wave it of. So I had it on me for a long while as you can see of the picture. Butterfly in Greek is ?flying flower?. In Norwegian we call them ?Summer bird?. Both summer bird and flying flower is much better than ?butterfly? Have you ever thought about how disgusting the word ?butter fly? sounds. I cannot imagine that there can be anything worse than a greasy fly. yack. You English people needs to figure out a better name/word for a beautiful creature like this.

Wish you all a marvelous week ^^ and you will see me here next week. Drop a line or two in your blog if you like or feel free to send me an email. :)

    Hallisen!

P fredag hadde vi en leksjon med Κίκη og Σάββας. Bl.a. ferskt brd, halloumi-ost, tomat, agurk, kirsebr.

Masse gode leksjoner denne uken.

    ----------------------------------------------------------

    Hi! How is it going?:)

This week we made a load of mom's cookies.  I made lots of mini paper shirts with a spiritual thought behind. We wrapped a 4-5 Cookie and put the shirt on top. We gave this out to lots of people. We made about 50 cookies, so we had a lot to give out in on day. And wow, people were very impressed by both cookies, and the shirts (and hopefully the message behind ..). But many was wondering, 'have you made these ?? " As if it were something entirely new that a 19 year old can follow a recipe. It is not like it was me that invented cookies. Anyway, people were very satisfied.

Ah, Cypriot food is heavenly, and often very simple. Usually involves halloumi cheese and olives. I have never tasted halloumi cheese before actually. On Friday we had a lesson with Κίκη and Σάββας. We started with some food on the table, and they just came out with more and more food. Before we had finished the lesson it was a big meal. Fresh bread, halloumi cheese, tomato, cucumber, cherry. What was cool is that instead of stack up food on top of the bread and then eat, you take one bit of what you want. A slice of cucumber, maybe a bit of bread, cheese, tomato etc. The same with watermelon cheese and strawberries. It is actually brilliant.

We met and talked with a restaurant owner who told me when he heard I was Norwegian, that they have Norwegian there every week on a fixed time. So we went there and met a lot of the same people from May 17th party! A woman who was there told me that she used to date a "Mormon" a while ago. So that was fun. We were invited to come back another day, so we will be back J.

Lots of good lessons this week. So we are very happy with that.

We were in Lefkosia / Nicosia this week. Some training from the mission assistants and mission our president. It was a very good meeting. There were lots of thunder and lightning outside during the meeting, so we felt that it was really taught with power!

We fasted this week. When we fast we normally go without food and drink for about 24 hours when there are things that we like to help or support. And it works every time. But here we cannot go without water for 24 hours. So we do drink water. If not, we had completed dried out in the heat and strong sun all day. Last week for example. it was a baby born in Limassol. The baby was born with life-threatening issues. In addition, there was an enormous bill that the parents need to attend due to the fact that they need to do a lot of test and follow up. We prayed and fasted for this baby and family. Now it seems to be going well. We got to see the baby on Sunday, a beautiful tiny tiny little baby, and now all is well.

Wish you all a continue good week.
