Stay put. Dere kan ikke g glipp av den.

Godt Nyttr!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright guys, Merry Christmas and Happy Christmas again.

This week booked with good food, and we have been stuffed. = Christmas spirit ^^

We celebrated a true Norwegian Christmas (almost). Me and Menis with Rantaniemi and Scharff was together with the Mission couple Cranney at Christmas Eve and ate a big meal with turkey and shared various Christmas traditions from Italy, Scotland, Finland, USA and Norway. All very different. Quite interesting. But I must honestly say that I would not trade any Norwegian Christmas with some other traditions. It seemed as if we-in my family have a lot more traditions then the others. Which is easier to appreciate when you are away from family and homeland. So, it will be good to come back next year.

Christmas evening we unwrap the gifts that friends and family have sent to us. We unwrap the gifts in the other from the youngest to the oldest, as we always did it at home. For the first time, I was the first one to open, which is a totally new experience since I'm always the oldest at home ^^

Imed have stopped completely smoking! We made a plan for him how he would quit smoking completely within December 24th. He has been extremely good following the plan. Just a few weeks ago he smoked 40 cigarettes a day and now he has completely stopped, with no intention to smoke a single cigarette again in his life. It's incredible cool to see how happy he is for all changes he has done with his life in recent weeks. He is ready to be baptized on Jan. 7th if everything goes according to the plan. Wonderful guy.

Since it was Christmas we tried some alternative missionary activities. One day we made lots of cookies, we put them on plates with a booklet from the Church telling about the Restoration underneath the plate. Trying to be a bit sneaky. ;) So we gave this to all that lives in our block. Lots of people who were very pleased with the gesture.

Hehe, we had some extra time one night, so we started some projects. I think the pictures speak for themselves.
I've taken some more pictures with the blog this time. Attaching one photo below for each day I got great words and  surprises in the Christmas Calendar :)

Next week I will share a surprise with you. So stay put. You should not miss out.

GOD JUL! Marry Christmas! Feliz navidad!

    Cooked goose for everyone!

GOD JUL! Marry Christmas! Feliz navidad! (I think that should cover most of you)

I will not write a lot today. I even wrote the blog today in local dialect. Just to make it hard for my dad to translate :). So for the people that do not understand Stavanger dialect, read the English translation that my dad does

    hahha, get wrecked.

I feel for share with you my testimony about Christ birth and the redeeming power. I feel it will be more natural to do it in Greek now. So here we go:

Cooked goose for everyone!

This is the google translate for those that do not read Greek, I think I got the most of it ?Dad?:

?What is Christmas for me. First of all, it is the birth of Jesus Christ. Before I only thought about snow, ski and cocoa. Now my view has changed. I finally understand a little about the actual importance. And God's plan for our happiness.

This is not only words from a book. It is not just a good story. It is not wishful thinking. It is something that does not exist in a secular book or something that came from a manmade story. I know that Christ did all he did because of love so that we can return to our Heavenly Father. This is something to celebrate! I am the Christmas Unicorn?

Since it is Christmas I will give you two quotes this time.

?It matters not what someone is born but what they grow to be? - Albus Dumbledore

?Fly on ride through maybe one day i'll fly next to you fly on ride through maybe one day i can fly with you? - Coldplay,

I wish you all a merry Christmas. Eat a lot of good food, be happy together and for those that are able, toss a snowball for me.

    Hallais.

"Wow.. I am impressed... But you know the pope would not like you very much." hahha xD God fyr.

Siste sndag i advent denne ug!

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    Hi to all of you.

This Sunday we took a triangle, rhythm egg, Christmas bells and gingerbread which I made the night before and then we went Christmas visits and sang for members and other friends. It actually sounded pretty good. There were four of us missionaries here in Larnaca with cranney, Panayiotis and Georgia. We sang different carols and everyone seemed to loved it.

This week we taught Imed again. We introduced him to a ?stop smoking program? so that he can stop completely before Christmas. He is very eager on quitting. He has a baptismal date January 7th, so if it shall happen, he must follow the plan. I really hope that it will happen, and I think he will do fine. Well, clearly it's going to be hard for him to stop completely, but I have faith in him.

We also visited Norman, the historian. We had a pretty good discussion, he is always very excited. Hahha, I love to teach him because he know so much already, and he is always open for learning the truth. We had a discussion about the priesthood, why it is essential to the Christ's true church. He explained a lot about what happened to Christianity in the New Testament and how things were changed by men. And they laid claim on the priesthood. I told him that no one can claim that priesthood through scripture study, secular education, a school diploma or something similar. I said, a man must be called of God, just as Joseph Smith was. I showed him Hebrews 5: 4. He just sat back and said. "Wow .. I am impressed ... But you know the pope would not like you very much." hahha xD A Good guy.

We had a visit from Matt Mathias here this week. He taught us about self-reliance in an incredibly good way. We came together as a whole zone. Later that week came President Heder to Cyprus to talk to the new coaches and greenies in the mission. Next transfer will be huge. We will get a lot of new sister missionaries. We actually will be double the number of sisters in the mission then. This means that even those who are in training now will train in only a few weeks. Hahha. 12 weeks to learn Greek, and so they will be out to teach the gospel in Greek with a brand new missionary in their heels.

While we waited for an appointment outside the church some Indians past by, we smiled and said hello. A few minutes later they came back and said: "Excuse me, you help people to change the religion?" I was quite put out of the question and tried to answer quite democratic, because I thought it was a trick question, and explain that we teach of Christ and help people to follow him. Later they said they wanted to change religion. It turned out that they knew some friends that we teach and that they also wanted to "become Christians". hahha. They came to church on Sunday, but they've got no idea what's going on or anything. So Gabbi that we also teach was given the opportunity to explain a little of what we believe in Punjabi. We have been afraid that Gabbi do not understand completely what we teach, but it seemed like he explained to them what he has learned in a relatively good manner. It gave us a little more hope in Gabbi. We'll see what happens with the new Indians. They just have to understand that it there is things that that need to understand and follow before they can be baptized, haha :) never had that problem before ..

I found the Norwegian couple on facebook with my missionary facebook and added them. A few days later they wrote to us saying that their son have come to visit this week and they want us to come back one evening. Hahha, she said "He's sort of a done deal Mormon. Do not smoke or drink, he does not drink tea or coffee." He studies in Stavanger at the moment, how strange is not that. I'm going to meet a guy who lives in my town this week! Would not exactly say that the world is small, but Stavanger really is! So this will be quite cool.

    Week's quote!
"You must not be afraid to dream a little bigger darling" - Eames, Inception ^^

Have a amazing week! Christmas approaching! Last Sunday before Christmas this week!

    Hallois

Kjempekoselig!

(Aen sndag i advent, s me tente to lys.

C# i Visual Studio jobbende imot HTML 5.

    Ukas quote!

"It's not easy to make a new friend,
it's easy two pretend, but its hard to make a friend
Unless you are a child. I'd like to be a child,
    A child running wild (...)
Then you drop that sleep at night,
forget you have a fight, and you're friends the next day "
    - Hard to stay awake, Morten Abel

    -------------------------------------------------------------

    Hoy

Yeay, this week we started to open the Christmas calendar! We bought all kind of cheap stuff to put in the calendar. I also got a very cool calendar in the mail from home. Every day I get to open a letter / package where someone from home have written a good word and Christmas greetings. Excellent and cozy!

A few weeks ago we meet a lady, Carolina. She is a single mother to a boy at Age 11. At the doorstep, she said she was not that interested talking with us. We did not give up though, we continued to talk with her at the doorstep. She explained that she believed in God, and also about her view of organized churches. We eventually got her phone number so we could set up a time when she had more time to talk with us. This week she finally found time to have us over with Cranney. We had such a good lesson. She went from being relatively little interested to want to learn more. I felt the Spirit so strong when we talked about the gospel, and I could see that she felt the same. Ah, I love those moments. I hope we have the opportunity to meet with her this week as well.

Haha. Okey. We had an appointment with one of the members, Marcel, to translate something to Greek for him. He speaks Romanian and good Greek, but he wanted us to check and improve a document he had written in Greek. The problem was that he lives on the third floor, there was no doorbell, and I did off course forgotten my mobile phone... So we stood outside with no way to get into his apartment or to get in touch with him. So we went from door to door in the neighborhood and asked to borrow a phone. When I finally was able to borrow, I called Cranny (one of the few numbers I've written down in my planner) and asked him to call the other missionaries here in Larnaca so that they could contact Marcel and tell him that we were waiting for him outside. Hahha, was not it confusing? It ended up just fine. .

As mentioned last week, Elder Scharff is back on the island! It's funny, we got the here together in January. He has been over to the mainland in Greece and now he's back. And I'm still here, haha. I'm now the missionary that have been the longest in Cyprus since Elder Fagg now have left Cyprus. I love Cyprus, so I do not need to leave ^^. I've virtually lived on an island my entire life. But I guess I will be sent back to Greece in the middle of January, but you never know.
I fooled a Greek guy and told him that I was from Cyprus yesterday when I spoke dialect. And he beloved me :)

This week it rained! I almost forgot the feeling of wet socks. They say that December is the wettest month. So that means rain once a week. That is no problem for a real Siddis (a guy from Stavanger).

The Norwegian couple that we visited last Monday was extremely cool. Very smart and down to earth. Thomas is a programmer and program just like we did it at school. C # in Visual Studio-working towards HTML 5. It was kind of cool. He has studied the a lot about different religions. They also have lived in Utah and knows a great deal about our church and loves us Mormons. They were clear on that they have no intention to become members, but said it was okay if we would come back another time. So we will not give up. He had read the Book of Mormon before. Koran 3 times. So he really likes to stay updated. A real programmer.

Unfortunately we did not have time to meet with Imed this week, but he comes to church every Sunday, so we talked with him there. A good guy.

Yesterday I had a pretty cool experience in my personal scripture study. I had a very specific question that I needed answers to. I had a conversation a few days before, and it came up a question that I could not answer directly. Therefore, I prayed for guidance so that I could find the answer. I felt that I should read a particular chapter in the Book of Mormon. As I read this chapter I suddenly understood it,  I understood everything that I had requested. One: the contents of the chapter had great connection to the question I had. Two: I felt I understood everything in a suddenly. I understood things that were not even described in the chapter. I know we can talk to God through prayer. I also have a great testimony that our Heavenly Father listen to our prayers and speaks to us through the Scriptures and through the Holy Spirit. It's amazing to think that we can communicate with the Almighty, the Most Powerful, and he loves us and cares enough to answer us.

    This week's quote!

"It's not easy to make a new friend,
it's easy two pretend, but its hard to make a friend
Unless you are a child. I'd like to be a child,
    A child running wild (...)
Then you drop that sleep at night,
forget you have a fight, and you're friends the next day "
    - Hard to stay awake, Morten Abel
(I think Christ is agreeing with Morten Abel when he says we should be like a child)
